Oyebode Odewale aged 33, were charged before Ile Ife Magistrate Court on Thursday, December 16, for allegedly posting RIP on his girlfriend Ademola Omolade’s picture on social media on December 13.
Odewale was charged with two charges of breach of peace and danger to life by the police, Insp. of Prosecution Counsel.
Oyebode committed the offence on December 13 around 11:30 p.m on Eleyele Street in Ile Ife, according to Sunday Osanyintuyi.
Osanyintuyi claimed that the defendant caused a public disturbance by posting RIP on Ademola Omolade’s social media page.
He further stated that the defendant threatened Omolade’s life if she did not marry him.
The offence, according to Osanyintuyi, was in violation of Section 86 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, on the other hand, has entered a not guilty plea. Ben Adirieje, the defendant’s defense attorney, sought for the defendant’s release on the most generous terms possible.
The defendant has been granted bail with the amount of N50,000, with one assurance in the same amount, by Magistrate O B Adediwura.
The surety must also swear to an affidavit of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and show a valid identification card and address to be validated by the prosecutor, according to Adediwura.
She went on to say that the surety must also submit three recent passport photos. The case will be rescheduled for January 14, 2022.
