At least two persons have died during the invasion of the New generation bank by armed robbers in Okuku town Odo-Otin Local Government Area, Osun State.
The state Commissioner of Police in the state, Wale Olokode, revealed this while speaking on the incident with newsmen.
According to him, “while escaping, the armed robbers were shooting sporadically and gunshots hit two persons.”
The CP further stated that the armed robbers could not access the bank’s vault and left hurriedly before policemen got to the scene.
He added that policemen have been deployed to ensure the arrest of the robbers and assured that they would be apprehended and brought to book.
Recall that Nigerdeltaconnect had earlier reported that the armed robbers stormed the bank, releasing multiple gunshots in the air to scare off residents and passers-by in the area before carrying out their operation.
It was gathered that the ugly incident happened at about 5pm when the bank had closed for the day and many staff had left the premises. The robbers numbering five stormed the bank intending to do away with money kept in the bank. In a video that has now gone viral the robbers were seen shooting sporadically as residents scampered for safety.
