The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has lashed out at Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers State for backing Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State to emerge the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2023.
The council described the support of the Rivers State governor for his Bauchi State’s counterpart as childish and irritating.
The council stated that Gov. Wike’s support for a Northern president of Nigeria in 2023 is a plan that will sink Nigeria.
The National President of the council, Igboayaka O Igboayaka made the stance of the council known while speaking with newsmen at a thanksgiving service held in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
He berated Gov. Wike for insisting that the Peoples Democratic Party stands a chance of winning the 2023 presidential election if his counterpart in Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, emerged the candidate of the party.
Igboayaka challenged Gov. Wike to dare produce a northern presidential candidate and see the collapse of PDP and Nigeria.
He stressed that no PDP flag will stand in Igbo land or any Igbo dominated area in Nigeria if they dare to deny a Southeasterner the PDP presidential ticket.
Igboayaka reminded Gov. Wike that Nigeria is standing on the red line of political survival, and what will redeem Nigeria at this time of political suffocation is a Nigerian president of Southeast extraction in 2023.
He said, “Nigeria is suffering from a political pandemic that will lead her into the grave, but the only viable vaccine that is required for prevention is a Southeasterner emerging the presidential candidate of PDP.
“Gov. Wike is acting as a child who is bathing only on his belly. He is ignorant of political instability and anarchy that will befall Nigeria if they go on with their conspiracy to deny a Southeasterner the PDP presidential ticket during their primary election.
Igboayaka reminded PDP that Ndigbo are the only tribe in Nigeria that have given their loyalty to PDP since 1999 till date, therefore every reasonable PDP loyalist and leader will not hesitate to walk on the path of equity, justice and peace by ceding their presidential ticket to Southeast.
