The Peoples Democratic Party has berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the constant extension of the revalidation exercise.
The PDP said the spate of extensions of a simple exercise as registration can only mean that the people have lost confidence in the leadership of the ruling party.
The major opposition party said the recent plan to extend the revalidation exercise of the APC one more time was a clear confirmation that the series of extension is just a plot by the party to illegally inflate the figures of the membership of the party.
Kola Ologbondiyan, National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, relayed the reaction of the party to newsmen through a statement:
“but pity for the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led APC caretaker committee, which has become overwhelmed by the burden of producing an inflated membership register, following the rejection of the APC by Nigerians.
“Nigerians are already aware of the looming crisis in the party the series of failed revalidation process in some states in the country.
The statement further declared that the ‘game is over’ for the APC, adding that Nigerians rejected what may have seemed as a financial inducement to lure unsuspecting members of the general public to join the party.
He also accused the APC of extending their registration and revalidation exercise in a bid to attract sympathy from Nigerians.
According to him:
APC ought to know that the game is over, after Nigerians rejected their monetary inducement of N10, 000 per registration, even after they offered night registration in some state.
The PDP counsels the APC leadership to note that further extension of the botched exercise cannot attract the sympathy of Nigerians or give any credence to any fake figure they intend to come out with.
The outburst by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed and other APC leaders, who were ostensibly edged out in the membership allocation racket, had already exposed the plots by the APC to launch a fabricated register.
The PDP also admonished the leadership of the ruling party to accord listening ear to some members of their party (APC), adding that they (PDP) will, at the appropriate time, reveal some of the culprits involved in the alleged inflation of membership figures.
Our party urges the APC leadership to listen to voice of reasons coming from elders of their party like former Governor Bisi Akande, and end this dance of shame. “In any case, our party will, at the appropriate time, expose all the shenanigans of the APC, including the roles played by desperate individual APC leaders in this attempt to beguile Nigerians with a fictitious membership register.
The revalidation exercise of the APC has been sparking a lot of controversies in some states while the recent defections from the PDP have also raised eyebrows.
However, while the registration/revalidation is seen as a winning strategy by the APC, the reconciliation process carried out by the PDP may be their “magic wand”, building up to the 2023 presidential election.
