The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has decried the recent interruption of the Continuous Voter Registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Taofik Gani, publicity secretary of the Lagos State Chapter of the PDP relayed his dissatisfaction to correspondents of the National News Agency (NAN) in Lagos.
This is coming after INEC announced that the CVR exercise will reopened in June. This information didn’t sit well with the PDP as it sees it as “embarrassing”, adding that the process “is always announced as if it has intervals”.
Gani in his words: “That should not be; it should be a continuous and uninterrupted registration exercise.”
He went further to challenge INEC to be very honest with Nigerians and speak up if the commission is facing any challenges currently.
“Why should they say continuous voter registration while it is not really continuous?’’ he quipped.
The major opposition party emphasized on the fact that the very narrow window of registration would deter most Nigerians from partaking in the process.
The PDP. Chieftain admonished the electoral umpire to ensure a free and fair election is conducted in 2023, adding the end product of the process must be the emergence of the true will of Nigerians.
