Detectives from the Imo State Police Command have arrested a couple, Lambert and Rachael Osundu for allegedly killing and burying their 20-year-old youngest son, Chukwuebuka.
Our correspondent gathered that the couple and their first son, Ndubuisi committed the act on September 14 in their Umuduruihiako Umueze ll Community in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
It was learnt that Osundu with the assistance of Ndubuisi interred the mortal remains of Chukwuebuka after beating him to death in a shallow grave they dug in their compound.
According to sources, the family lied Chukwuebuka traveled to Ghana when curious villagers enquired to know his whereabouts.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, CSP Michael Abatam confirmed the story.
Abatam disclosed that the police were able to arrest the couple with help of the community.
The police spokesman further disclosed that the couple who are undergoing interrogation have made useful statement that would help the police arrest other members of the family on the run.
According to the PPRO, the Commissioner of Police, CP, Rabiu Hussaini has condemned the murder of the young man.
Hussaini enjoined citizens to desist from taking laws into their hands but rather to allow justice prevail.
The Commissioner of Police assured the people of state of the readiness of the police to ensure safety of lives and property in the state.
