The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the release of the abducted Principal, Vice Principal and two other teachers of Auga Community Grammar School, Auga, in Akoko Northeast Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Niger Delta Connect had reported that the Principal, Joshua Adeyemi, his vice, Ifedayo Yesufu and three teachers, which include Bukola Oloyede, Funmilayo Adagunodo and Blessing Okeke were kidnapped on Thursday evening while travelling on the Auga-Ise road in Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State, but one of the abductees, Okeke was later released because she was heavily pregnant.
Confirming the release to Niger Delta Connect, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Funmilayo Odunlami said the release was true but said the police was unaware if any ransom was paid.
Meanwhile, Niger Delta Connect gathered that they were released at Imoga town, very close to Ibillo in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.
The Wife of the Principal, Hellen Adeyemi had also confirmed that the abductors contacted the family through a phone call, demanding a sum of N35million naira before his husband and the three others could be released, while lamenting that their demand was too outrageous and unaffordable for the affected families.
A family source told Niger Delta Connect that when the N35million ransom demanded by the abductors could not be met, they later reduced it to N4million, which ultimately led to their release in Edo State.
This is coming four days after the Eze Ndigbo of Ifon in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, Chief Donatus Okereke, regained his freedom after spending five days in Kidnappers den.
