The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the gruesome murder of one Goodnews Okirinya, a commercial motor cycle rider, aged 30.

Okrinya was said to have been murdered at Emeyal II community on Sunday, May 29, 2022, before his motor cycle was stolen by his assailants.
Bayelsa State Police Command spokesman, SP Asinim Butswat, in a statement, said, “The deceased rider identified as one Goodnews Okirinya, 30 years, was murdered by unknown assailants, who stole his motorcycle and dumped his body in a cassava farm at Emeyal II Community.
“The body was discovered on 30 May 2022 at about 0915 hours”.
According to the statement titled ” Murder of a commercial motorcycle rider”, Butswat said the
Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Ben Okolo has ordered his men to fish out the culprits who murdered Okirinya at Emeyal II, Ogbia Local Government Area, wherever they may be hiding.
Butswat, who noted that Police operatives visited the scene of the incident, said the corpse has been moved to the hospital for autopsy. Meanwhile investigation on the matter is on-going.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Council, Chief Ebinyo Turner, has condemned the killing of Okrinya, from Emeyal II Community on Sunday, describing it as senseless, barbaric and unacceptable.
The council boss, who noted that the action was most “unbecoming”, assured the people that those behind the dastardly act will be unmasked and made to face the wrath of the law.
He declared that Ogbia cannot be a haven for criminals and called on security agencies to rise up to the occasion.
While expressing his condolences and that of the entire people of the local government area to the immediate family of the deceased, Turner called for calm among locals, urging them to go about their normal businesses.
