The police in Owerri Imo State on Thursday, disclosed of the recovery of the Toyota High Lander Jeep belonging to the traditional ruler of Mbutu Community in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of the state, HRH Eze Demian Nwaigwe.
The spokesman of the police in the state, CSP, Michael Abattam made the disclosure in Owerri.
According to him, the operatives of the command swung into action on receipt of information about the traditional ruler’s abduction.
Abattam said the swift manner with which the operatives acted paid off with the recovery of the vehicle.
He said that the state Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Hussaini, on getting the information has ordered a full scale investigation into the incident.
Abattam vowed that the abductors would be apprehended and treated according to the law.
Abattam said that the police boss has also assured that the traditional ruler will be rescued in no distance time.
Recall that gunmen suspected to be abductors said to be numbering over 10 in the wee hours of Thursday stormed the palace of the traditional ruler and abducted him, making away with his Highlander Toyota Jeep.
Meanwhile members of the Mbutu Community have been thrown into serious confusion and agony following the abduction of their traditional ruler.
Some indigenes of the community called on the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma and the Commissioner of Police in the state to secure the release of their traditional ruler.
HRH Eze Henry Madumere of Ezi-Mbieri Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state was on November 22 abducted in the neighbouring Iho Community in Ikeduru Local Government Area of the state while going for funeral ceremony.
He was kept in captivity for five days before being thrown out of a moving vehicle thereby compounding his waist and joint pains.
Before the two incidents, the traditional ruler of Umueze Nguru Community in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of the state, HRH Eze Charles Iroegbu was abducted alongside his palace chiefs and guards on April 6, 2021.
