The abducted traditional ruler of Mbutu Ancient Kingdom in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, HRH Eze Damin Nwaigwe has been rescued by the police.
The police announced the rescue of the traditional ruler in a statement dated Saturday, December 11, 2021.
Eze Nwaigwe spent two days in the gulag of his abductors before regaining his freedom having been kidnapped on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from his palace.
The statement signed by the spokesman of the police in the state, CSP Michael Abattam disclosed that Eze Nwaigwe was rescued unhurt.
The police said the royal father had been reunited with his family.

The statement reads; “The royal father , HRH Eze Damin Nwaigwe of Mbutu Accient Kingdom, who was kidnapped on 09/12/2021 at about 0300 hours in his residence has been rescued unhurt and reunited with his family”.
Our correspondent gathered that the Mbutu Anciet Kingdom has erupted in an orgy of celebration over the release of the traditional ruler.
“We are happy over his rescue and return to the palace. You can hear the noise of some of his subjects in the background celebrating his return”, one of the palace chiefs said excitedly on telephone.
The palace chief who did not want his name mentioned said this yuletide festivities would have been greatly and adversely affected in the community if anything bad had happened to the traditional ruler.
He said the community is still shocked and is yet to understand why the abduction occurred in the first place.
Recall that the traditional ruler of Ezi-Mbieri Autonomous Community in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area, HRH Eze Henry Madumere was kidnapped on November 22 and set free five days later.
But his counterpart for Atta Community in Njaba Local Government Area of the state, HRH Eze Edwin Ezike, who was kidnapped on Thursday, December 9 was not lucky as he was found dead on Friday, December 10.
