Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the postponement of this week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The president took this decision in honour of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, and ten other officers who died during a plane crash in Kaduna last Friday.
The directive was made known in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha
President Buhari also ordered the postponement of the Police Council meeting, which was scheduled to hold on Thursday, May 27, 2021.
He also ordered the national flag to fly at half-mast nationwide from 24 – 26 May 2021 and the declaration of today, Monday 24 May 2021, as work free-day for members of the Armed Forces.

“Muhammadu Buhari urges all citizens to use this period of mourning to pray for the repose of the souls of the departed and strength for the family to bear the painful loss,” the statement said.
