The 61-year-old Duke of York has allegedly been evading being served the sexual assault lawsuit filed against him by Virginia Giuffre.
For this reason, a US judge has taken the stance of ruling that the legal papers be delivered to the prince through his LA-based lawyers.
The plaintiff Virginia Giuffre had filed a court case against the prince in August with accusations of physical violation and sexual misappropriation which she claimed had taken place about 20 years ago.
The alleged victim is reported to have been a minor at the time this happened.
Prince Andrew has not given any hint that he might be approaching the court, the woman’s lawyers have had to consult the judge Lewis Kaplan claiming the Duke has been evading the lawsuit.
The attempt to serve the Prince’s LA-based lawyers with the legal document was reportedly the judge’s approach to making the prince realize that he cannot dodge the lawsuit.
This is meant to make the case leave a standstill as the lawyers are now legally served and it would be a contempt of court to do nothing about the lawsuit documents handed to them.
Initially, Giuffre’s lawyers had gone to the Prince’s home to serve him the papers which were received by a police officer guarding the entrance to his place, but nothing had been done.
Through email, one of the victim’s lawyers expressed gratitude to the judge for making the case move forward.
Prince Andrew has had to step down from royal duties due to his relationship with late Epstein who had to be convicted for sexual crimes before he killed himself in prison.
