Residents of Irese Community in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State are counting their losses as late night rain wrecked havoc on over 100 buildings with roof completely removed and fences destroyed.
Irese Community Health Centre, City hall and schools among other building including a church and a major poultry farm was also touched by the devastating rain with losses running into several millions of naira.
According to residents of the community, who spoke with Journalists, the rain is the first rain in the year 2022 in the community.
Conducting newsmen round the community, the Olurese of Ireseland, Oba Destiny Saka said the level of the disaster is beyond the community’s financial capability just as he called on the state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, and other representatives of the area at the local government level and as well House of Assembly members, House of Representatives among others to please come to the aid of the victims who are mostly pensioners.

According to him, there is a need for quick intervention as the victims have no place to stay.
Also affected are business centres, some part of the palace as well as the Kabiyesi’s parked car.
A cross section of resident landlords expressed shocked at the extent of damage while also calling for quick intervention.
In separate interviews Mrs Dorcas Adelokan, Chief Samuel Ajayi Adefola, Mrs. Mary Okoro, and Chief Adebayo Jaiyeoba called on the state governor to please come to their aid as they do not have anywhere to stay.
Chief Wole Adeleye, a resident landlord whose property was also destroyed and Rev. Bamigbose Adejoko, while also recounting their losses said they await the good gesture of Ondo State kind Governor and well meaning Nigerians to come to their aide.
