The senior pastor of the Father’s House Prophetic Church, Umuaburugwu Farm Road, Umuoye in Etche LGA of Rivers State, Rev Uchendu Israel has alleged threat to his life and plans to burn down his church.
Uchendu, who spoke to our correspondent in Owerri, Imo State disclosed that his ‘sin’ was helping a member of the church, Miss Beauty Nokwe to secure a house help job.
According to him, he helped 20-year-old Miss Nokwe, who died on July 6, this year to secure a job as a house-help at the home of one Charity Uzoho.
Uchendu said late Nokwe’s mother, Elizabeth Nokwe had approached him to secure a job for her in order to ease the sufferings they were passing through.
According to him, he helped Beauty Nokwe, an indigene of Ogoni, Rivers State to secure a house-help job at the home of Charity Uzoho, who lives at World Bank Owerri, Imo State in February this year.
The cleric further revealed that two months later in April, Uzoho discovered that her house help was pregnant.
He said Uzoho called his attention to the development, adding that he quickly took Nokwe to her parents, who are residing in Etche.
The Abia State-born pastor said he discovered to his chagrin that Elizabeth Nokwe was aware of the pregnancy, saying that the woman felt disappointed that the pregnancy couldn’t be aborted by herbs she started administering on her daughter since November last year.
The pastor told our correspondent that he however advised Elizabeth to allow her daughter to deliver the baby, an advice, he said, she bluntly rejected, maintaining that as a born-again Christian, it would be shameful for her daughter to give birth out of wedlock.
Uchendu said; “Mrs. Nokwe rejected my advice, saying it will be a shame for her daughter to bear a child out of wedlock. I continued visiting to find out how the pregnant Miss Beauty Nokwe was faring. During one of my visits, I found out that Beauty was sick.
“I advised that the girl be taken to the hospital but Beauty’s brother, Cookman said the ailment was spiritual. Cookman said the gods of the land are always angry when first daughters get pregnant and try to abort it.
“Cookman said he had a similar experience when he impregnated a first daughter and attempted to abort it; that what they needed do was to perform a ritual to cleanse the land and his sister will be well.”
“I don’t know whether the ritual was performed or not, but complications later set in. They took Beauty to another church (name withheld) where she died on July 6.
Uchendu said the kinsmen of late Beauty Nokwe are now threatening to kill him and burn down his church at Etche, claiming that he has a hand in her death.
According to him, “Some people who said they are Ogoni people called me on telephone with 07019356111 and threatened to deal mercilessly with me. They claimed that I have a hand in their daughter’s death. They said they will kill me and burn down my church.”
Our correspondent called 07019356111 on Thursday, July 8 and the person who picked the call claimed he does not know Rev. Uchendu and did not threaten anybody neither did anybody use his phone to issue any threat to the cleric or any other person.
