Operatives of the Rivers State Command C4i Team attached to Etche Local Government Area, acting on credible intelligence, raided a criminal hideout at Okehi Etche, where they successfully arrested two male suspects – Njoku Chimanya aged 19 years, and Chijioke Umesurum aged 20 years who are suspected to be members of a secret cult.
In a statement by the acting spokesperson of the command, DAP Grace Iringe-Koko said items recovered from them are; one stainless English pistol with breech no. 323898, and some items suspected to be hard drugs.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday while reiterating the commitment of his command to combating crimes and criminality to a negligible level, assured that the suspects would be charged to court. He also advised tricycle drivers to be wary of passengers boarding in groups especially at night time.
Recall that the Rivers State Command had arrested four kidnap kingpins terrorizing Egwi-Etche and environs in Etche Local Government Area after luck ran out of them when they abducted one Pastor Jeremiah Atelibo of Salvation Ministry Church Port Harcourt on 28th February, 2022.
In a statement by the state spokesperson of the command, DSP Grace Iringe- Koko said the operatives using artificial intelligence were able to locate and storm their hideout and arrested the four suspects who are Barisi Yikes, Chinedu Simeon, Justice Obodo and Jeffrey
The statement said the victim, Pastor Jeremiah was successfully rescued unhurt while a locally made pistol with three live cartridges was recovered from them, among other exhibits.
Operatives of Rivers State Police Command had also apprehended four suspects involved in the kidnapping and eventual murder of a commuter identified as Onyekachi Obioma Chukwuagu, along East/West Road to Rumuodogo 1 Community in Emohua Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects – Obichi Ngita, age 20 years, Chisom Honest aged 20 years, Young Chitu age 21 years and Omens Woke age 23 years – on Tuesday, 22nd March, 2022, while pretending to be regular passengers, boarded the victim’s vehicle. However, when they got to a quiet part of the route, they kidnapped the victim and abandoned the vehicle, with Reg. No. GDD 250 MU by the roadside.
