The Police Command in Rivers State has confirmed the abduction of Philemon Kingoli, the Chairman of Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State.
According to the police, kingoli was whisked away by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday, April 7, 2021 along Peter Odili Road in Port Harcourt the state capital.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, in a statement on Thursday April 7 confirmed the report while adding that efforts are ongoing to rescue the chairman out from his abductors.
“There is no contact yet from the kidnappers but we are out to ensure that the man is released timely and unhurt,” Omoni said.
“The Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, has directed all the tactical commanders to move in immediately to ensure his release”, he said.
Family members are yet to be contacted by the abductors, hence the motive for the kidnap is yet unknown.
You would note that the incident is coming few weeks after gunmen abducted the traditional ruler of Ikuru town, HRM, King Aaron Miller, in Andoni Local Government Area of the state as well as, a senior lecturer at the Department of Linguistics and Communications Studies, Dr. Jones Ayouwo, who were subsequently released weeks after experiencing horrific moments in the hands of abductors.
