President Vladimir Putin discharged troops into 2 places in eastern Ukraine overseen by rebels, after conceiving these regions to be independent states.

Putin stated that the troops would be involved in the dissolution of conflicts in the so-called independent states of Luhansk and Donetsk.
However, the United States called this act one of Russia’s excuses to penetrate Ukraine and create war.
The two so-called independent states are controlled by rebels supported by Russia and have caused some insurgence in Ukraine since 2014.
Ukraine’s president alleged that Russia is intentionally breaching its sovereignty.

According to BBC News, President Volodymyr Zelensky in a public address to his people declared that Ukraine would love peace, but would not be apprehensive about any likeliness of war.
He stated how Ukraine was presently backed by several international allies.
About nations being there for them in trying times, he said:
“It is very important to see now who our real friend and partner is, and who will continue to scare the Russian Federation with words only”.
US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield disclosed during an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council that Russia’s claim of dissolving conflicts in Ukrainian states was a hoax.

She further claimed that Russia’s pretext of viewing Luhansk and Donetsk as independent was one of Russia’s plans to find ways to invade Ukraine.
UN Ambassador from Russia, Vasily Nebenzya, countered this by asserting that Russia felt it necessary to protect these states in any case Ukraine attempted inflicting the section with conflict due to their alliance with Russians.
He said that it was not the intention of Russia to cause a cold war through this.
