The Bayelsa State Environmental Sanitation Authority (BESA), has warned hoodlums parading themselves as staff of the agency to desist or be ready to face the law.
Executive Chairman of the agency, Hon. Tolu Amatu gave the warning in a statement released to newsmen in Yenagoa on Monday.
He said the agency has received series of complains on how some unscrupulous elements have been posing as its officials and dispossessing at gunpoint unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables.
The statement read: “It should be noted that the Authority have received series of complaints from well meaning members of the public on the notorious activities of these kidnappers who have decided to drag the image of the Authority to the mud and cause untold hardship to Bayelsans.
“In response to these complaints the Executive Chairman, Hon. Tolu Amatu, had swung into action and mobilized a surveillance team and security officials to track down these hoodlums.
“The Authority is hereby dissociating itself from these criminals, some of which have been arrested by the Bayelsa Vigilantee Force while calling on all Bayelsans to be vigilant and also share relevant information that could assist in apprehending these criminals”.
