Our correspondent gathered that the invaders stormed the rural community at about 4:00am on Thursday and shot sporadically.

The invasion caused pandemonium as the natives ran helter-skelter, abandoning their homes, with some sustaining injuries in the process.

A pastor of a local church in the community, Pastor Anthony Akatta, told our correspondent that the raid lasted long.

Pastor Akatta added that the invaders whisked away some youths whose whereabouts are still unknown.

He said: “It was around 4:00am on Thursday that Ebubeagu and some military personnel came to our village, Umutanzi, in Orlu council.

“They blocked all roads leading to the community, killed six people while one persons sustained injuries.

“They also took some youths and we don’t know their whereabouts till now.

“They shot at doors, glasses and cars that were packed inside homes and by 11:00am, they left the village while still shooting.”

The spokesman of the state Police Command, CSP Michael Abattam could not be reached for comment.

But the spokesperson of the 34 Field Artillery Brigade, FAB, Obinze, Captain Joseph Akubo, confirmed the raid.

Akubo however absolved soldiers of any involvement in the incident.

He said the operation was carried out by operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS).

He added: “I heard of the incident, but soldiers were not involved. It was the men of DSS. You can call them and confirm.”
