Legendary Nigerian musician Martins Okey Justice known popularly as J. Martins confirmed he has dropped his interest in running for a seat at the Federal House of Representatives in the forthcoming 2023 elections.
This was contained in the statement he released on Monday, where he established that he initially joined the race because of his constituents at Arochukwu/Ohafia Constituency, political associates, and friends who felt he has the qualifications for the seat.
The singer disclosed that after extensive consultation with his political key players, he decided to listen to their advice about him stepping down in the interest of his people and the political party.
He said; “My interest to contest for the position of the Federal House Of Representative was sequel to pressure on me from my constituents ( Arochukwu/Ohafia Constituency ) political associates, friends, and other well-meaning great Ohafia men and women, who felt I possess the necessary qualifications for the job.
After many consultations with all the stakeholders from my Constituents, party leaders, and my political GodFather who I had an audience with as a follow up to the one I earlier had with him. Having also consulted widely with my family, supporters, and well-wishers, I have been asked to step down and work in the interest of my people and the party so that we all can achieve the common goal which is a better representation then what we used to have”.
