The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Imo State Command was thrown into mourning on Friday when one of its officials, Mrs Glory Nkwocha gave up the ghost following injuries she sustained from a stray bullet at her residence in Orlu metropolis.
It was learnt that Nkwocha, was in her house with her family when the flying bullet hit her.
She could not be rushed to the hospital owing to the tension caused by the exchange of fire.
Mrs. Nkwocha was eventually taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri on Friday where she died.
A source said” the woman was in her with her family on Thursday night in Orlu when a stray bullet from the gun battle between security men and unknown gunmen hit her. She lost consciousness. It was difficult taking her to a hospital that night because of the panic nature of the environment.

“She was later taken to the emergency unit of the Federal Medical Center, Owerri, where doctors battled in vain to serve her life. She died on Friday because her case was already bad by the time she was rushed to the hospital.”
When contacted, the spokesperson for the NSCDC in the state, Lowell Chimeziri, confirmed her death.
Chimeziri told our correspondent that the deceased’s corpse had been deposited in a morgue.
He disclosed that the command had launched an investigation with a view to ascertaining the bullet that hit her.
