The struggle to remain among the top four in the English Premier League continues tonight as the lads who “Never walk alone” prepare to host “The Blues” at Anfield tonight.
With the current form of Manchester City, who defeated Wolves two days ago by 4-1, it is believed that they would claim the title this season for the third time under current manager Pep Guardiola, after extending his unbeaten run to 28 games in all competitions this season.
With Manchester City taking an unassailable lead, the fight for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th spot, to determine who qualifies for next year’s Champions League, becomes tighter with the inconsistency and the rather poor form of Manchester United.
Manchester United sits at the second position with 51 points on the log after yesterday’s draw with Crystal Palace and a clear 14-point difference between them and Manchester City.
Leicester City, who forced Burnley to a draw on Wednesday, have a total of 50 points and occupy the 3rd position on the log.
West Ham, who are presently fourth on the log following their defeat to league leaders, Manchester City, prepare to take on Leeds from home on Monday, to see if they can secure a vital win to consolidate on their 4th position.
The outcome of tonight’s game between Liverpool and Chelsea will be of critical importance to West Ham as a victory for Liverpool over Chelsea, who are one spot behind West Ham, will make the Hammers retain their fourth position. If however, Chelsea wins, it will spell doom for West Ham who will drop to fifth position.
In the last five Premier League fixtures, Liverpool have always been at an advantage after winning four times with one draw. Two of such winnings were from home, Anfield.
With the unbeaten run under the new Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, and with just a win in the last five premier league meetings for Liverpool, both teams will be looking forward to either maintain their unbeaten record on one hand or return back to winning ways on the other hand. The clash continues between both clubs tonight.
Chelsea are presently 5th with 44 points while Liverpool sits at 6th position with 43 points. A win by either club will serve as an advantage to secure the 4th position slot.
Just to show how keen the fight for top four spot is going, LNDFootball took to Twitter and analysing where Chelsea will be if they beat embattled Liverpool.
With a win over Liverpool, Chelsea will go…
• 3 points behind Leicester (3rd)
• 4 points behind Manchester United (2nd)
