Nigerian professional footballer and Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has made history in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
The 26-years-old Nigerian International who plays for Spanish side Barcelona Femeni is the first Nigerian and African Woman to win a Champions League tittle after inspiring the club to win the title over the weekend.

It would be called that during the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final in 2019, Asisat Oshoala scored the only goal for her club while losing the Lyon in a 4-1 defeat to also make her the first African and Nigerian woman to score in a Champions League Final.
Furthermore, it was a busy weekend for Chelsea FC as they played two finals; FA Cup and UEFA Women’s Champions League finals which featured three Nigerian players as opponents to Chelsea.
The FA Cup finals featured Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi as Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel lost to Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City by 1-0 to win the trophy.

In another development, it was Nigerian and Barcelona Forward Asisat Oshoala against Chelsea FC in the UEFA Women Champions League final with Chelsea equally losing the trophy by 4-0.
The 26 years old Nigerian International scored the first goal in the 35th minutes of the first half in the first leg stage of the 2020/2021 Europe Champions League Women quarter final against Manchester City side in March.
She became the first African woman to win the UEFA Champions League, after coming on in the 71st minutes of the finals yesterday with Barcelona defeating Chelsea by 4-0.
In 2019/2020 season, Oshoala scored 20 goals in her 19 appearances for FC Barcelona Femeni.
The four time African Women’s Footballer of the Year, joined Spanish club FC Barcelona Femeni in January 2019 on loan and have scored 33 goals for the club.
