Lead singer of Gorillaz and initially of Blur, Damon Albarn, sparks rejoinder after he said in an interview that Taylor Swift does not write her songs.

During an interview on LA Times, the interviewer had referred to Taylor Swift as a splendid songwriter and Albarn had at once stated that Taylor Swift did not write her songs.
Swift took to her Twitter to respond to this with:
“I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this.
I write all of my songs. Your hot take is completely false and so damaging”.
According to BBC News the interview featured Albarn comparing Billie Eilish to Taylor Swift, saying the former wrote her songs and that her songs were intriguing.
He attributed Eilish song to be much “darker” and unusual when compared to Taylor Swift’s songs, further remarking that Eilish is exceptional.

Eilish in actuality cowrites her song with her producer who is also her brother, Finneas.
However, when the interviewer mentioned that Taylor Swift co-writes her songs, Albarn replied that this was not good enough.
He explained that he felt co-writing could not be compared to writing one’s songs.
He claimed he was not doing this to show hate but he felt there was a big contrast between a musician who wrote their songs and those who co-wrote them.

Producer of Taylor Swift’s music, Jack Antonoff, tweeted about how this showed ignorance on Albarn’s side because “he’s never been to my studio but he knows more than the rest of us about all those songs Taylor writes and brings in.”
Damon Albarn later apologised to Taylor Swift on Twitter by admitting he had erroneously discredited her.
Singer Adele also had issues with Albarn calling her “insecure” during a time she worked with him on music she never released; although he denied ever calling her that.
