The Call

Many individuals are aspiring for one office or the other, most of them claiming it’s a call from their people to lead them to the part of progress and prosperity. This simple term would be referred to as the call to the public office.

The Call

The public office in our clime is more like a heaven for so many who aspire for it. Many see it ultimately as an opportunity to enrich themselves and their family members. They see it as an opportunity to build that one house no one has built-in their community before. They see it as an opportunity to move about with large security details and clean and choice vehicles with some going to the extent of having dispatch riders. Well, some of these come with the paraphernalia of the office. It is very good.

While I I pray you to enjoy all these beautiful paraphernalia that comes with such offices or positions, may you get your priorities right!

Many who are now justling for one office or the other, going about trying to woo delegates to vote for them in the primaries, shouldn’t for one moment forget that PUBLIC OFFICE IS PUBLIC BUSINESS AND IT IS THE PEOPLE YOU ARE ANSWERABLE TO.

I’ve carefully observed that some of these highly placed individuals, when the public asks intelligent questions about their time in office, their media aids instead of them going ahead to answer such questions with facts and figures, some see it as an insult to ask such questions as if the people are not entitled to know these things. They see you as an enemy who isn’t happy because you are not at the table. This set of aids or advisers is the type any CHIEF EXECUTIVE should avoid!!! There is honour in giving a response, let the other case be that you didn’t respond well. We all with no exceptions should see public office as a means to give to society– the need to achieve those things you couldn’t achieve for your people while as a private individual.

I learnt early in life that the only constant thing in life is change. The political environment is astronomically changing. If you still believe that the type of games played on the people in 2015, and 2019 would be played in 2023, you are living in a FOOLS PARADISE!

We may not have all the billions you have but never get too comfortable because you can never underestimate the power of hope nor stop the woman in labour!

For some of you who are Abia politicians, know that your case is even worse because, having had and still having interactions with Abians both home and in the diaspora even at the highest levels, they all do not have a bit of good to say about Abia State. Even if the state was doing well, the bad news is greater in number than the self-acclaimed good news.

As an Abian, I have been carefully waiting for the state government through her means to give a response to why Pensioners haven’t been paid their gratuities and pensions. This is the height of WICKEDNESS! You think there are no consequences because this is Nigeria. Well, one thing I believe is every day can be for the thief but surely one good day will be for the owner of the house!

You cannot stave your people and expect them not to cry. These are parents of those children you call YAHOO BOYS. Why won’t they go into crime when you have chosen to starve their parents for their entitlements? Mind you, I DO NOT SUPPORT CRIME, YOU DON’T HAVE ANY REASON TO DO THAT. Just the same way the state government do not have any reason not to settle our senior citizens!

Dear politician, as you plan to get into your office in 2023, do not forget that you are there to serve the people and if you are being approached with relevant questions, answer them and DO NOT BE RUDE.

Many people will be stranded in 2023, especially those who do not have anything to show. Many will cry and shed painful tears with people mocking them while some will be happy.

As you plan to tell the world that GOD CALLED YOU TO BE JOSEPH, ELIJAH, DAVID AND all the bible names, just know that when you FAIL TO DELIVER, the same people who you convinced that God called you, will see to you disgraceful downfall. There shouldn’t be peace for anyone who owes pensions and gratuities!

Fear God, he exists! Time will tell a lot and wait for the real CALL.
