The world is so big, yet so little to see each fragments of people living in a community.
You may never understand the discrimination and barriers they face both in their homes and outside their homes.
You may never see the fact that they want to utilize their potentials, skills and abilities and be key players in the society.
They also have the dreams of working in various sectors of the economy.
They would love to play around with other children in school but most times they do not get the opportunities. They are still being denied the education they deserve.
You may never see their plea, telling you not just to pity them but also see them as humans who deserve to share and have happiness and laughter.
They need your genuine love and friendship, not the one shown out of pity. They would gladly embrace every motivations and encouragement offered to them.
These people also need opportunities created, for them to express their full potentials and soar high!
I am talking about those with disabilities who need You and I to express their abilities.
It is important to celebrate these ones regardless of the day recognized by the United Nations to celebrate them.
Goldcoast Developmental Foundation and other Non governmental organizations joined the DO Foundation and Collins Cocodia Foundation to show love to the female persons living with disabilities at the Yenagoa Sport complex. It was indeed a day filled with merriment for everyone present as the women, including teenagers were encouraged to speak up when they are sexually molested.
Goldcoast Developmental Foundation is an NGO whose passion for the vulnerable is immeasurable. Its Focus is geared towards alienating the people, with special attention to the vulnerable in the area of health, Education empowerment and strategic youth development.
My question to you is what have you done for them lately?
There is ability in the Word Disability.
Protect their rights!
Give them opportunities!
