Three women who are fish sellers at the popular Oja Oba market have died after a dilapidated building collapsed on them at Arakale area of Akure.
The women were supposedly hiding from the task force of the fish sellers association(FSA) so they took refuge under a dilapidated building when it fell on them.
It was gathered that some workers hired to pull down the building were at site working when it crashed on the women who unknowingly took refuge under the building
One of the victims identified as Dorcas Ajayi was said to have been hiding her wares from the Union task force because she owed the sum of N1000.
Her husband who gave his name as Ajayi said his wife’s goods would have been seized which made her hide them in the building.
He said he was working on his farm when he was called that something has happened to his wife, he rushed to the site and on confirmation of the scene he broke down in tears.
The son of the late fish seller Segun, described the scenario that led to his mother’s death as pathetic and blamed the workers who were contracted to demolish the building.
The resultant effect led to a massive protest of protesters to the governor’s house demanding that there should be a dissolution of the fish sellers task force
