A 400-level student of Delta State University (DELSU), Emmanuel Maduka, was on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 crushed to death, alongside two others, by a truck at the ever-busy Police Station Road, Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The truck, which allegedly belongs to Dangote Group, was conveying cement to an unknown destination when it skidded off the road while trying to avoid a motorcycle rider and a Toyota Camry saloon car.
It will be recalled that Nigerdeltaconnect had earlier reported a similar case of a truck crushing 10 women to death, after a break failure, at a market in Imo State.

According to an eyewitness account, apart from the student, a motorcycle (okada) rider and a lady, both yet-to-be-identified, were also killed by the truck.
One of the victim’s friends, popularly known as “Biggie”, said the late Maduka gained admission into the university through a pre-degree programme and from his performance, he was a clear First Class material, with a CGPA of 4.7 in the Department of Economics.
In lamentation, Biggie asked:
“How can this happen? Today is supposed to be his mother’s birthday. Who will disclose this bad news to his mother now”?
Our correspondent gathered that the remains of Maduka, which was trapped under the trailer, was removed by police officers, vigilante operatives, personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and sympathizers, who made frantic efforts by lifting the truck off the ground.
The source further disclosed that, the truck driver escaped while his assistant was beaten up by an angry mob and thereafter handed over to the police.
Initially, when contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, who earlier said he heard of the incident but he was yet to get an official confirmation, however, later confirmed the incident.
