A tanker has exploded at the Yaba Junction of Gada-Biyu village on the Abuja-Lokoja Road, leading to the death of two persons identified as Rabiu Abubakar and Mohammed Dan Kwairo.
The incident happened last Thursday when the petrol-laden tanker lost control and crashed into a ditch. Some residents immediately rushed to the scene with jerry cans and buckets to scoop fuel, before the tanker exploded, with two people burnt to death and two others injured, an eye witness said.
When contacted, the Federal Capital Territory Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ayuba Wobin Gora, confirmed the tanker explosion but said he was not aware of the number of deaths, reports the Daily Trust.
The Sector Commander, Gora said:
“I believe the Kwali police should be able to give you an insight about the tanker incident, because the report I received was that the tanker driver who survived the crash rushed to the Kwali Police Division to report the incident.”
