Two killed, others suffered varying degrees of injury in an auto crash along Obiuno Road, Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state.
According to The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident occurred as a result of over speeding.
It was gathered that the the crash occurred at about 7pm on Sunday, March 28, involving a Lexus car with registration number KSF403GD. The driver of the vehicle was said to be on top speed when he suddenly lost control and knocked down two women crossing the road.
Meanwhile, the Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Andrew Kumapayi has confirmed the report in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and the death of two persons involved in the accident. He stated that the speeding driver and a female pedestrian died along the Obiuno Road
According to him, “An unidentified driver of a Lexus car with registration number KSF403GD was involved in the fatal car crash.
“A total of four persons were involved in the crash comprising 2 male adults and 2 female adults
“Two persons, one male and 1 female adult sustained varying degrees of injuries and were taken to Apex Hospital in Igboukwu, while two persons were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty”, the Nation Reports.
He added that, their bodies had been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary,” Kumapayi said.
Still speaking, he warned motorists against speed limit violations but apply the recommended speed limit of 50km/hrs in built up areas.
The sector commander also advised pedestrians to be watchful when crossing or walking along highways to avoid untimely deaths. (NAN)
