Two people were reported killed as a vehicle dives into a river along the Darazo-Dukku Road in Bauchi State on Sunday morning, September 26th, which alleged to have injured two other people to differing degrees.
The incident was caused by a speed violation, according to Yusuf Abdullahi, the Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corp, Bauchi Sector Command, who confirmed the news on Monday, September 27.
According to him, the accident involved two vehicles travelling in opposite directions: a Station Wagon Opel Vectra with registration number DSA-120 AA and a Toyota Hiace commercial bus belonging to Gombe Mass Transit Company with registration number GME-74 YX.
The crash was triggered by a speeding violation, according to the Sector Commander, and it happened at around 9.08 a.m. 32 kilometers from the FRSC Darazo office, on the Gombe Abba bridge, along the Darazo-Dukku highway. “The crash involved another private 406 Peugeot with Registration number: 06H-04NS. The crash which was caused by a speed violation involved four people,” he stated.
“The driver lost control and plunged into the river. Two people were killed while the remaining two were injured. The trapped victims and the vehicles were finally removed and taken to the General Hospital, Dukku, Gombe State for confirmation at about 4.11 p.m., today 26th September 2021. Two of them were confirmed dead by a medical doctor at the hospital.
“We are doing our best to preserve a low accident profile for the state,” as he continue, urging motorists to avoid excessive over speeding and other traffic offenses that can lead to catastrophic accidents.
