The University of Calabar has reportedly debunked rumours making rounds online about it’s increment in school fees.
The Vice Chancellor, Florence Obi speaking through the Deputy Vice Chancellor academy (Prof. M. Okim), condemned the false news spreading across social media platforms concerning the increase of Students school fee for both old and new students of the University describing the information as fake and malicious.
According to Prof. M. Okim, the management of the prestigious University has not increased students school fee nor any other tuition fees in the institution and as such the information spread earlier about the increased of school fee from N37,450 to N47,450 taking effect from September 2021 is false.

Reacting Further, Prof. Okim expressed shock over the malicious spreading of false news by some people to the general public without proper investigation.
According to him, the management of the institution has never sat down anytime to review or increase students school fee. He however, explained that the management of the institution will continue to protect the interest of both staff and students of the institution and the needful will be done always to foster growth and development of the institution.
Consequently, the student union government (SUG) of University of Calabar (UNICAL) has urged students to remain calm as the union is committed to ensuring the maximum protection of the interest of all students of the University both old and new.
