Twenty four-year-old Kingdom Kroseide on Sunday emerged as winner of the Nigerian Idol Season 6 musical competition, defeating his fellow finalist, Francis Atela at a grand event to wrap up the show.
The Bayelsa-born Kingdom has been the toast of many music lovers within and outside the country because of his raw musical talent, smooth voice and his powerful delivery of all genre of music.
Prior to Sunday’s final, opinion poll had highly favoured him to be crowned the new Idol’s King but music pundits had stated that Atela shouldn’t be written off, on account of his success so far in the competition which has also earned him accolades from the judges and fans.
But on Sunday, Kindgom, a Computer Science student of the Federal University Otuoke in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, made history and became the latest millionaire in the country.
He got a N30 million cash prize, a brand new SUV, 6-track EP recording deal, three music videos, an all-expense-paid trip to Seychelles and a weekend getaway to Dubai for two.
Other gifts for the new kid on the block, include a wide range of Tecno products, Bigi branded refrigerator plus 1 year of Bigi drinks, and a DSTV explora fully installed with premium subscription for 12 months.
A total of 3,600 young Nigerians were auditioned for the popular music reality show, which is an offshoot of the Idol franchise, but on April 24, 2021, 68 contestants went into the theatre week, while 14 contestants received the golden tickets to advance to the theatre round.
On April 30, 2021, out of the 68 remaining contestants that made it into the theatre week, and 39 to the group selections, only 17 contestants progressed to the next and most competitive round of the show.
This year’s event was hosted by media personality, IK Osakioduwa with superstar singer Seyi Shay, creative entrepreneur, Obi Asika and celebrity DJ, Sose as Judges.
