The All Progressives Congress, Akwa Ibom State chapter said it has uncovered plot by some members to destabilize the party in the state through circulation of fake video aimed at causing disaffection among members.
The Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Nkereuwem Enyongekere made this known in a statement tagged “An Advisory: Plan to Cause Disharmony in APC”, which was made available to our correspondent in Uyo.
The party spokesperson alleged that masterminds of the plot have recirculated a video clip of an illegal APC stakeholders meeting which was held on Sunday March 28, 2021 to further their motives.
He added that highly credible source had revealed that attempts have been made to use monetary inducement to recruit ward chairmen and other party organs to incite a revolt in the APC family.
The statement read in parts, “A clandestine plan by sponsored members of the Party to cause disharmony in the party has been exposed.
“Information from a highly credible source has revealed that attempts to use monetary inducements to recruit some ward Chairmen and other party organs to incite and cause a revolt in our very peaceful APC family by the perpetrators has been exposed.
“The mastermind of the planned revolt, Dr. Emayak Ukpong in the early hours of today, July 14, 2021 re-circulated a filed video clip of an illegal APC Stakeholders meeting which was held on Sunday, March 28, 2021 to further their ulterior motives
“Be informed that the video clip and its audio is misleading and full of misinformation. This misleading information was stoutly debunked with documentary evidence by the state Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr. Ita Udosen in recent meeting at the residence of Chief John O. Oyegun in Abuja that was attended by Godswill Akpabio and other Akwa Ibom State APC Chieftains.”
Enyongekere advised party faithfuls to ignore and disregard the contents of the said video clip as it was intended to stir confusion and breed acrimony within the rank and file of the party.
He urged those who have been recruited into the campaign to refrain from such acts or face ‘dire consequences’ which await them.
