The Nigerian National Petrfoleum Corporation (NNPC) has said it would maintain the current pump price of petrol until the conclusion of on-going engagement with the organized labour and other stakeholders.
Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Dr. Kennie Obateru disclosed this in Abuja on Friday while clarifying a statement credited to the Group Managing Director, Mallam Kyari to the effect that the Corporation incurs a monthly fuel subsidy burden of N120 billion.
He warned petroleum products marketers not to engage in any arbitrary increase of petrol pump price or hoarding of the product so as not to disrupt the market.
He further advised motorists to avoid panic buying, adding that NNPC was committed to ensuring energy security for the country as the supplier of last resort.
