The traditional ruler of Mkpani Community in Calabar, Cross River State, King Obol Sunday Obono Okoi has disclosed that measures have been put in place to prevent Fulani herdsmen from gaining access into their land.
Speaking with journalists on Wednesday, May 14, the monarch lamented the alleged incessant killings by the Fulani herdsmen, stressing that they are the kind of humans people ought not associate with.
“We are not giving the Fulani’s any chance to have access into our community and we don’t want those things happening in other communities and states to happen here.
“We are ever ready to protect our community, and we don’t welcome any intimidation, anybody who tries us, will be shown the way out, we are equal to the task.
“We have people who are monitoring the situation with a view to tackling any suspicious move.
He said his community has vigilante groups who protect the people and properties, adding that they cannot run away from their land just as they cannot let the herdsmen gain access into their community.
