The member representing Okigwe South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chike John Okafor has appealed to delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to vote massively for him to win the party’s ticket.

The two-time lawmaker said clinching the party’s ticket and eventually winning the main poll would place him at a vantage position to angle for the speakership or at least deputy speakership position of the House.

He spoke at his residence in Owerri, Imo State on Tuesday, May 24 when he played host to the delegates and stakeholders of the federal constituency.

Hon. Okafor said with the principal officer’s position, he would attract greater dividends of democracy to the constituency.

Okigwe South Federal Constituency comprises Ehime Mbano/Ihittre-Uboma/Obowo local government areas of Imo State.

The federal legislator said; “I want to appeal to all of you to cast your votes for me to enable me win the upcoming election for our party which will afford me the opportunity to attract more projects to Ndi Okigwe South Federal Constituency.

“We must remove sentiments and emotions and think outside the box, and with all due respect to my brothers and sisters who are jostling for the ticket with me, if I go back there for another term, I will get a very big position that they will never get, and I will use it to transform Okigwe South Federal Constituency.

“You must all know that National Assembly politics is very dynamic, without knowing the orography of it, you will never achieve anything for the next four years.

“If I’m voted in again, I will be eyeing the Speakership of the House or at least the Deputy Speakership, because I belong to the ruling caucus of the House of Representatives, and with such position, I will use it to negotiate something very important for the people of South East.

“Whoever that wants the progress of Okigwe South and Imo State in general, must support my ambition to go back to the National Assembly, to help His Excellency the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, in attracting and negotiating those federal projects that have eluded our people for so long.”

The delegates unanimously assured of giving him bloc votes during the primaries.

They cited what they described as his quality representation and unmatched achievements for the people of the federal constituency for opting to ensure he secures the party’s ticket and wins the main poll.
