Imo State government has dismissed claims by a former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha that the recent registration and revalidation exercise of the All Progressives Congress(APC) was not open in the state.
The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, said the exercise held in all the wards in the state and that interested persons participated without any hindrance.
He said contrary to the claim of the senator, Rochas Okorocha that the exercise was a closed door affair held in government house, witnesses abound who participated in the exercise in all the 305 INEC wards in the state.
He explained that Okorocha shunned the registration because he didn’t succeed in hijacking the materials meant for Imo state.

” Truth be told, what Okorocha is looking for is the structure of APC. He desperately needs it so that he can continue with his rabid desire to impose his doctrine of familiocracy in the state. Because if he was really desirous of registration or revalidation as an APC member, the doors of APC registration centres in all the 305 wards were open for every one ” the commissioner explained.
He also argued that having failed to corner the materials, the former governor has continued with his arrangements to decamp to another party, adding that he is only looking for an alibi with the APC registration and revalidation exercise to rationalise his impending decampment to another party.
The Commissioner said:
” You are aware that the man in question is a serial political decampee. He has been in almost all the political parties since 1999. Because he failed to control the APC structure in Imo , he is sulking and searching for ways of moving to another party”.
Emelumba noted that apart from political heavy weights in Imo state who participated in the registration exercise, even associates of the former governor were not left out.
According to him, a former member of the House of Representatives and close ally of Okorocha, Nnanna Igbokwe, registered ,among many other associates of the former governor.
” Okorocha knows why he did not participate in the exercise and should stop pretending about it” he added.
