Bayelsa First Lady, Dr. Mrs Gloria Diri has applauded the partnership between the government of the Republic of Korea and the state government, describing it as a friendship with mutual benefits.
She stated this on Thursday when she received the Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Kim Young Chae and his Wife, Judy Young Kim Chae at the Government House, Yenagoa.
The First Lady noted that South Korea is one of the biggest economy in the world and being the haven for technologies, Bayelsa State stands to benefit from the vast opportunities it has.
The Wife of the Governor was later accompanied by the visiting Ambassador, his wife and elder statesman, Amb. Bolade Igali to the St. Jude’s Girls Secoundary School, Amarata for an interactive session with the students.
Press Secretary to the First Lady, Maria Olodi-Osumah, in a statement said she also reiterated the commitment of the Prosperity Government to provide quality education in the state.
Mrs Diri commended the students for winning the Milo Basketball competition for secondary schools in the country seven times, and advised them to remain focused on their studies and avoid social vices.
She stated that the government is willing and working hard to create the enabling environment for them to grow, develop their inherent potentials and talents.
In her brief remarks, the wife of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Judy Kim Chae expressed happiness at the opportunity of meeting with the students of the school, saying Bayelsa is giving priority to education and in no distant time, the results will be visible.
She presented gifts to the students while the students also treated their august visitors to cultural performances.
Earlier in her address, Principal of the school, Mrs Ayimeiye Spiff expressed the appreciation of the teachers and students of the school to the state government for its support which has enabled the school sustain a high education standard.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Kim Young Chae and his wife Judy Kim Chae are in Bayelsa State for the Made in Bayelsa Agric Products Exhibition, A Pre “Bayelsa Agric Summit 2021” event organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
