The Coalition of The South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) Condemns in totality the recent directives given by the Nigerian Police Force to withdraw police escort from all ministers, Senators, House of Representatives, Speakers, political office holders and VIPs of the people from the South East.
The Coalition Leader, Goodluck Ibem while speaking to newsmen, in Owerri on Thursday 13, 2021, said it is sentimental, and such directives should be revoked, especially in this period the nation is facing serious security challenge
Saying that if these directives are upheld, it will compromise the security of our elite citizens exposing them to a high-security threat from hoodlums, unknown gunmen, Bandits and Boko Haram.
He went further to say that these directives are sentimental and a calculated attempt to put the lives of our South East Elite Citizens into a serious security threat.
He went further to quote the recent happenings “Just two days ago, jihadists killed 31 soldiers in Northeast, Governor Babagana Zulum the executive governor of Borno State has been attacked severally by Boko Haram terrorists and his security details has not been withdrawn, then why the sudden directive in South East and Rivers State?”
He went further to state that, in this period where the country is facing a serious security threat, Governors should take autonomy of security architects of the various state and encourage community policing instead of withdrawing securities from elite citizens from the southeast.
He however calls on the National Security Council and the police force to reverse the decision and directive withdrawing the security details attached to governors, Senators and other persons.
