Talented and award-winning singer and songwriter, Wizkid’s album, ‘Made In Lagos’ has hit 120 million streams on Apple Music.
The astonishing part is that the album hit the milestone in 5 March.
The news was broken by dedicated music blogger and twitter influencer, Mike Adams. By this achievement, “Made in Lagos” is only behind “Sounds From The Other Side” as Wizkid’s most-streamed album on Apple Music.
Since it’s release, Wizkid has released two additional videos to ‘Smile’ which was a promotional single for the album.
Currently, he’s working on the visuals for ‘Essence’, which features fellow Sony act, Tems.
“Made in Lagos” is the fourth studio album by Nigerian singer and songwriter, Wizkid. It was released on October 30, 2020, by Starboy Entertainment and RCA Records.
It features guest appearances from British artistes Skepta and Ella Mai, American R&B singer, H.E.R., Jamaican artistes Projexx and Damian Marley, and Nigerian artistes, Burna Boy, Tems, Tay Iwar and Terri.
“Made in Lagos“ received generally favorable reviews for its cohesive themes, particularly ruling out the flaws in Wizkid’s previous works, “Sounds from the Other Side” and “Soundman Vol. 1”.
In “Made in Lagos” he promotes culture and globalization, with the album also containing themes of love, focus, goodwill, gratitude and grace. He implements the use of live instrumentation on Made in Lagos and explores a range of genres.
Joey Akan of Pitchfork stated that “Wizkid balances the formula to unite home and abroad with big pop songs that can compete across cultures and an underlying theme that embraces his roots”. It is unarguably the most loved and popular African release of 2020.
