The Igbo World Union, IWU, has tasked the South East Governors to boldly take a step and approach President Muhammadu Buhari for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The group further appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to extend his milk of kindness to the Igbos by applying a political solution to resolve Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case.
Speaking through its President General, His Imperial Majesty, Mishak Nnanta, the group regretted that the continued detention of Kanu had introduced the monstrous and retrogressive sit-at-home order with the attendant massive deterioration of security situation and debilitation of the South East economy.
The IWU affirmed that though an unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu runs contrary to the doctrine of separation of powers between the Executive and Judiciary, President Buhari could still use his prerogative rights to release Kanu from detention.
Similarly, Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha, a member of the 2021 South-East delegation, led by the first republic minister, Chief Amaechi Mbazulike, to see President Muhammadu Buhari over Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has called on the Federal Government to seek a political solution in Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case in order to reduce tension in the South East.
He emphasized that the case of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, should be given a political solution and the man released from detention to quell the prevailing insecurity and economic hardship being experienced by the South East zone.
