Abia Denies Fake N25,000 Christmas Gift Advert From Otti

The Abia State Government has categorically dismissed as fake an advertisement claiming that Governor Alex Otti is offering N25,000 Christmas gifts to residents.

The fraudulent advertisement, which circulated widely on social media, falsely claimed that the Governor was distributing cash gifts as part of a festive initiative, with a link provided for individuals to apply.

In a statement, the state government clarified that the advertisement was not authorized by the Governor’s office and that no such initiative had ever been planned.

Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Otti, condemned the advertisement on Friday, describing it as a deliberate scam aimed at deceiving the public.

Ukoha urged Abians to completely disregard the misleading advert, emphasizing that it was part of a broader attempt to exploit unsuspecting citizens.

He further stated that security agencies have been notified and are working to investigate the matter and track down the perpetrators behind the fraudulent scheme.

The Chief Press Secretary also reminded the public that all legitimate government programs and initiatives, including social investment, welfare, and intervention schemes, are always communicated through official channels and posted on the official Abia State website.

He urged Abians to stay alert and cautious of deceptive messages, advising them to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

He emphasized the importance of being vigilant and proactive in safeguarding against fraud, ensuring that the public remains informed and protected from scams targeting unsuspecting residents.

Ukoha reiterated that Governor Otti’s administration is committed to transparency and integrity, and has made it a priority to ensure that all government activities are properly communicated to the public through recognized and authorized platforms.

He emphasized that any genuine welfare or assistance programs will always be officially announced by the government through the appropriate channels.

Ukoha assured the people of Abia that the administration would continue its commitment to improving the welfare of residents.

He emphasized that this would be achieved through legitimate, well-structured programs specifically designed to benefit the people and enhance their quality of life. He said that the state government remains focused on delivering meaningful initiatives for the overall progress of Abia.

He urged Abians to stay informed and engaged, relying only on verified, official sources for news regarding government initiatives.
