The Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) has announced the recruitment of ad-hoc staff for the Local Government elections set for November 2 statewide.
In a press statement released on Thursday, Dr. Kelechi Okere, ABSIEC Commissioner II responsible for Information, Voter Education, Training, and Publicity, announced that the commission is inviting qualified candidates to apply for various roles in the upcoming elections.
Dr. Okere mentioned that the recruitment aims to fill essential positions that support the electoral process. Interested individuals are encouraged to submit their applications to contribute to the successful conduct of the elections. The available positions include Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Poll Clerks (PCs), and Assistant Poll Clerks.
He emphasized that interested applicants must submit a handwritten application to the ABSIEC offices in their Local Government Areas (LGAs) to be considered for the available positions in the upcoming elections.
The statement encouraged applicants to address their applications to the ABSIEC Chairman and submit them by the deadline of Tuesday, October 8, 2024. Candidates must also include two passport photographs, a photocopy of their staff identity card (if applicable), and their curriculum vitae with their applications. Earlier, the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission(ABSIEC) announced that the local government election would hold on November 2, 2024.
Remember that Professor George Chima, the ABSIEC Chairman, previously announced both the poll date and the time table at the Commission’s headquarters, Umuahia, during a stakeholders’ meeting with representatives of 18 political parties, urging all political parties to strictly follow the outlined schedule and the commission's guidelines.
As the recruitment process begins, ABSIEC members affirm their commitment to ensuring a fair and inclusive election, with the commission under close scrutiny while preparing for credible local government elections in Abia State.
