The newly appointed Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Grassroots Sports Development, Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka, has expressed unwavering confidence in the future of grassroots sports in Nigeria under the President’s leadership. During a recent courtesy visit to the President at Aso Rock, Adeboye assured Tinubu that the country would soon witness remarkable progress and transformation in the development of grassroots sports.
Adeboye, accompanied by Alhaji Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), and Honourable Bukola Olopade, the Director General of the NSC, conveyed their commitment to revitalizing the sports landscape of Nigeria. The delegation met with President Tinubu on Thursday, where Adeboye made a bold statement, promising that grassroots sports would play a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s sporting future.
“The foundation of every successful nation in sports is firmly planted in grassroots development,” Adeboye remarked, emphasizing the crucial role that early-stage sports development plays in the growth of athletic excellence at the national and international levels. He further assured the President that his office would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that grassroots sports in Nigeria achieve unprecedented success.
"I am committed to giving my absolute best in this role. Under my watch, the grassroots sports sector will see substantial growth. The results will speak for themselves, with numerous success stories emerging from local communities, schools, and clubs across the country," Adeboye stated with confidence.
The Senior Special Assistant stressed the importance of tapping into the potential that exists at the grassroots level, noting that there are vast, untapped resources in Nigerian youth waiting to be nurtured and developed.
