Mikel Arteta has praised Arsenal’s commanding 5-1 win over Sporting in the Champions League, calling it “a big result” for his side.
The Gunners delivered a dominant first-half performance, racing to a 3-0 lead with goals from Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Magalhães.
Although Sporting pulled one back early in the second half through Gonçalo Inácio, Arsenal responded in style, with Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard adding to the scoreline.
Arteta speaking, expressed his joy and satisfaction, saying;
“I’m very happy. It’s a big result against a big opponent. We wanted to make that statement.”
He highlighted the team’s exceptional first-half performance, praising their cleverness and efficiency in attack. Even after conceding, Arteta was impressed by his player’s resilience, noting their strong personality in pushing for the fourth goal, which ultimately shifted the momentum in Arsenal’s favor.
