BREAKING:Tinubu Directs Release Of Minors Arrested over Protest

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the release of all minors arrested and detained over #EndBadGovernance protest.


The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents, on Monday.


“The President has directed that all minors be released and also reunited with their families anywhere they are in the country. A committee has been set up to look at the issues surrounding their arrest, detention and release. All the law enforcement agents related to the case will be investigated and anyone found wanting will be brought to book,” he said.


The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had on Friday, arraigned 76 #EndBadGovernance protesters before Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja, among whom were minors.

Viral videos of the malnourished children sparked disastrous reactions with some civil society groups calling for their immediate and unconditional release from detention.

The 76 protesters were arraigned in two batches, 32 of which, were children.


In August, at about 20 person’s were shot dead, and others were also arrested at a protest demanding better opportunities and good governance for the country.
