The United States (US) President-Elect Donald Trump has officially declared that Elon Musk, a tech Billionaire will head and serve in the Government efficiency department in his government.
This announcement was released late Tuesday evening, from Trumps transition team.
The announcement of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy leading the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) signals a bold effort by President-elect Donald Trump to reform the U.S. government.
DOGE is envisioned as a transformative initiative, with Musk and Ramaswamy working closely with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget to tackle bureaucratic inefficiencies and reduce the $6.5 trillion in annual federal spending.
Elon Reeve Musk, a 53year old businessman and inventor is widely known for his key role in the automotive company, he is a multi tech billionaire and is also known for his innovative approach to business, has promised that their reforms will “send shockwaves through the system,” aiming to cut down unnecessary regulations, curb wasteful spending, and overhaul federal agencies.
Vivek Ganapathy Ramaswamy, an American entrepreneur who founded the Roivant Science in 2024 is also the vocal advocate for government reform, and is expected to provide guidance and strategic input to ensure that the department's goals aligns with the administration's broader vision.
Trump has described the project as a "Manhattan Project" for government efficiency, aiming to transform federal operations in a way that makes them more entrepreneurial and responsive to the needs of American citizens.
The goal is to create a more accountable, leaner government, potentially reshaping the federal landscape by the time the nation's 250th anniversary arrives in 2026.
The department's work is set to conclude on July 4, 2026, and the anticipated outcome is a government that is smaller, more efficient, and better equipped to serve the American people.
Musk and Ramaswamy has both expressed their enthusiasm for the project ahead and has further promised to deliver and bring reform.
