EPL: Liverpool’s Arne Slot Lauds Salah’s Efforts

Following Sunday’s game, Arne Slot stated that quality players such as Mohamed Salah play a vital role in important matches, after the Egypt international's late strike secured a 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the Premier League.

Salah, who indicated last month that he might depart Liverpool after this season, also scored in last weekend's 2-1 victory over Chelsea, following his decisive penalty goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Speaking in an interview on Monday, the 46-year-old coach said: "I think that's one of the things that top players have, that they are always available and they show up in the big games.”

"That's also what you need if you are a big club, like we are and like Arsenal is, then you need these quality players because if you don't have them, it's going to be quite difficult to get your results."

Salah, who is now tied with Robbie Fowler as the eighth-highest goal scorer in Premier League history with 163 goals, has netted six times in the league this season. He has contributed to the scoresheet in five of Liverpool's seven league victories.

"It's something you need to have as a club, to have these players that can make the difference for you, and Mo was that today offensively," Coach Slot said.

Meanwhile, Slot has consistently stated that it’s too early in the season to evaluate his team, revisited this theme after securing a late equalizer.

He said: "I know you guys (the media) like to talk about title contenders and where we are exactly in the league – and that's also part of your job."

"The only thing I look at is: can you get a result in a difficult away game like this one?

"The way we did it pleased me a lot, to see that we can compete with such a strong Arsenal team in their stadium, that is very pleasing to see.

"But where that exactly will lead towards the end of the season, I cannot tell you yet."

Mohamed Salah's late equalizer lifted Liverpool to second place, just one point behind champions Manchester City, while Arsenal sits in third, five points off the top.

Liverpool turned last season into a three-horse race for the title before fading in the final stages. However, their strong recent performances have sparked the possibility of mounting a challenge for a second Premier League title.

"Going two times behind against a very strong and good Arsenal team, then to get a point is pleasing to see, especially because we had to play an away game in Europe this week, we had one day less to recover and to prepare," Coach Slot added.

On the other hand, Liverpool Fc took to their official X page @LFC to make a post: “Arne Slot was pleased with the fighting spirit the Reds displayed in the 2-2 draw away at Arsenal”

Slot's team will be facing Brighton twice this week, first in the League Cup away on Wednesday, followed by a home league match on Saturday.
