Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen Douye Diri has sworn in 15 new Permanent Secretaries at a ceremony held at the Council Chambers of Government House in Yenagoa today. The appointments, the governor emphasized, were based on merit, with the appointees selected after a rigorous selection process involving written exams and oral interviews.
Governor Diri, speaking during the inauguration, expressed confidence that the new Permanent Secretaries would restore the lost glory of the civil service in the state. He said, “Today marks history as we inaugurate the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries. As a policy, I have decided to bring back the glorious days of the Permanent Secretaries-ship. Your appointments followed all the rules and procedures governing your selection, and I charge you to lead with integrity and accountability. You are stewards of the public, and you must earn their trust.”
The Governor’s call for ethical leadership and dedication to service resonated throughout the ceremony. He reminded the appointees that their roles were not just administrative, but also a solemn commitment to serving the people of Bayelsa with transparency and efficiency.
The newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries are: Anengimo Loveday, Claude Ujile Gogo, Oloye Agnes, Kemedei Doubara, Raymond Angaye, Omubo Diepreye, Sokari Stanley, Okrinya Samiso, and Peremoboere Soroh. Other appointees include Otrofaniowei Poweidei, Ekeke Hamilton, Ayabowei Enemo, Jonjon Olali Samuel, Apulu Iyobosa, and Festus Lukoh.
The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrujakpo, Member of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Fred Agbedi, former military governor of old Rivers State King Alfred Diette-Spiff, and Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, represented by the Assembly Leader Rt. Hon. Monday Obolo-Bubou. Other notable attendees included the Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, Justice Matilda Ayemieye, the Head of Civil Service Barr. Biobelemoye Charles-Onyema, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe, among others.
